[Mouton – Last gem to be ranked as First Growth]
Chateau Mouton is the last Chateau being ranked as First
Growth. In the very beginning, it was ranked as Second Growth. The Chateau
started blooming in 1992 when it was purchased and managed by Baron Philippe de
Rothschild. After years of effort, Mouton was ranked as First Growth in 1973
finally. Before being the First Growth, Baron Philippe said, “Incapable to be
First Growth, disdain to be Second Growth, this is Mouton. And now he said, “I
was ever the Second Growth and now I am First Growth, Mouton remains
unchanged.”
