金鐘莊的名字是緣於當時一塊葡萄田上，可以在同一時間聽到來自Mazerat、St. Martin以及St. Emilion三個教堂的祈禱鐘聲，因此將酒莊命名為Chateau Angelus金鐘莊。在1990年之前，金鐘莊的名字是L`Angelus。現任的莊主Hubert de Bouard de Laforest覺得這個名字會使得酒莊在酒莊列表中的排名靠後，因此決定將酒莊更為 Chateau Angelus，這樣，這有利酒莊的宣傳推廣。在1996年的列級酒莊評級裡，金鐘莊從Grand Cru Classe被提升至Premier Grand Cru Classe B，在2012年，更提升成為Premier Grand Cru Classe A。

The estate takes its name from one of its vineyards where you can simultaneously hear the daily ringing of the Angelus bells from three nearby catholic churches in Mazerat, St. Martin and St. Emilion. Before 1990, it is named as L`Angelus. The current owner, Hubert de Bouard de Laforest, felt that this name would make the chateau has a lower ranking on winery list, so renamed to Chateau Angelus, which is good for the marketing and promotion. In the 1996 classification, it was promoted from Grand Cru Classe to Premier Grand Cru Classe B, and in 2012 it was further promoted to Premier Grand Cru Classe A.
